In truth, the goal of my songs is the same as the goal of my life is to be a conduit for others to awaken their joyous spirit and realize and live in their vision of what paradise is for them.
The music and the lyrics are designed to spread joy in ways that talking or logic can never do. The highest joys are the same, one divine eternal soul or God. So playfulness is the highest path I have found to God realization, and playfulness is the most compassionate way I have found to serve others.
Most everyone has heard the maxim, stated in one form or another, 'as you think, so is your reality'. Reviewing the themes of our songs, they are mostly about very sad topics, and yes, singing them can be cathartic, but if that aphorism is true, then those songs keep us bound to a suffering or sad world more than we likely need to be.
So at least some of the time we need to think and feel joy and peace, envision our paradise, because when we do, we vibrate in that reality...meaning, we begin to live it more viscerally in our life. Then it becomes a personal decision, how much of each day, week, month and year do we choose to live in our playful paradise.
If you're like me, the answer is, as much as possible. Inspired to that end, melodies and lyrics began to flood my brain - the old songs we learned as kids still are remembered; ring around the rosey, london bridges falling down. Wow, 40 years later and they remain in the memory banks!
Of course these songs are about bombing and plagues, and if we consider if children are thinking these thoughts, it becomes their reality. So I realized if I can create modern day, catchy songs, only with lyrics that are uplifting, spiritual, caring for mother earth and her children (the two and four legged), then we have a wondrous opportunity to give the new generation a real edge on love and peace, respect for nature and their fellow humans.
And so that is the goal of my songs.
