What Does “Natural” Food Mean?

Parents, you have seen the research how foods other than organic are causing all sorts of childhood diseases. But perhaps, like me, you have been unsure or confused when you see the word, ‘natural’ means.

According to the Organic Consumers Association, while natural foods may be free of some ingredients found in processed foods (ie, preservatives and artificial coloring), but production methods are mainly conventional. This means so-called natural foods may be grown with GMO seeds or sprayed with pesticides, and fertilized with fossil-fuel derived synthetic fertilizers or sewage sludge.

also

  • dozens of natural and mislabeled organic personal care and household cleaning products contain carcinogens
  • natural” non-organic soy ingredients are produced utilizing the hazardous chemical
  • 90% or more of vitamins and supplements labeled as “Whole Foods,” “natural” or “food based” are spiked with synthetic chemicals.

OCA is the organic association that is working to keep organic laws strict to protect families. See more at their article

send Whole Foods & UNFI an email that you will only buy certified organic products

Another consumer watchdog group is Cornucopia Institute
